Daliang Wang is the Chair and Associate Professor of Chinese in the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at High Point University, part of the Douglas S. Witcher School of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences. A native of China, he obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Shanghai Normal University and earned his Doctor of Education in curriculum and instruction from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Before arriving at High Point University in 2016, Wang spent ten years at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, teaching Chinese language courses. There, he was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor of world languages and cultures. He also founded and directed the Intensive English Program, overseeing student exchange initiatives with universities in China and other Asian nations, which enhanced cross-cultural understanding and international partnerships.
Wang's academic interests focus on the integration of technology in second-language acquisition, cultural studies, and advancements in foreign language pedagogy. In recognition of his leadership, he was honored with the MEAD Leadership Award in 2012 by the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Wang's contributions extend to national service; in 2023, he was appointed to a three-year term on the National Screening Committee for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. In this capacity, he reviews and selects candidates for awards, including English Language Teaching Assistantships in Taiwan, drawing on his long-standing involvement with Fulbright since 2006, during which he hosted Fulbright scholars at his universities. Furthermore, Wang serves as President of the ACPSS for the 2023-2025 term, organizing international conferences that promote scholarly exchange between Chinese and American academics. As department chair, he leads programs in Chinese, French and Francophone Studies, and Italian, while also acting as the department chair representative for global education approvals at High Point University.
