Associate Professor Thomas Daniel (Dan) Andrews is a computational biologist at the Australian National University, holding joint appointments in the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the School of Computing. He serves as Group Leader of the Andrews Group focused on Genome Informatics, Senior Fellow, Bioinformatics Manager, and Jubilee Joint Fellow. Andrews holds a BSc (Hons) and PhD, and is an ANU biochemistry graduate. He has professional experience in research and industry across Australia, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
His research centers on genomics, computational biology, and molecular evolution, with a focus on high-throughput computation and analysis of genomic data. This includes efforts to accelerate understanding of human pathogenic genetic variation through computational biology and bioinformatics approaches that uncover causal patterns and functional signals from genome sequencing and high-throughput phenotyping data.
