Dan V. Caprar is an Associate Professor in the Discipline of International Business at the University of Sydney Business School. A psychologist by training, he completed his MBA and PhD as a Fulbright Scholar. Drawing on extensive international exposure and diverse work experience, his research investigates how individuals influence and are influenced by their work and life contexts, emphasizing culture, identity, and leadership. His scholarship has been published in leading journals such as Academy of Management Annals, Journal of International Business Studies, Human Relations, Academy of Management Learning and Education, and Journal of Business Ethics. Key publications include 'The Dark Side of Strong Identification in Organizations: A Conceptual Review' (Academy of Management Annals, 2022, with Benjamin W. Walker and Blake E. Ashforth), 'Towards a theory of performance-based identity' (Human Relations, 2019), 'Conceptualizing and measuring culture in international business research' (Journal of International Business Studies, 2012), 'Foreign locals: A cautionary tale on the culture of MNC local employees' (Journal of International Business Studies, 2011), and '"Norming" and "Conforming": Integrating cultural and institutional explanations for sustainability adoption in business' (Strategic Management Journal, 2012). He is co-editor of The SAGE Handbook of Contemporary Cross-Cultural Management (2020).
Caprar holds prominent administrative roles, including Program Director for the MBA (full-time and part-time) since 2025 and Program Director for the Master of Management (CEMS) from 2024 to 2025. He teaches in MBA and executive education programs, designs and facilitates leadership development programs, conducts executive coaching, and contributes to public discourse via articles in Harvard Business Review, The Conversation, and community events. His Google Scholar profile shows over 4,090 citations, underscoring his impact on cross-cultural management, international business, organizational behavior, global virtual teams, identity dynamics, sustainability adoption, migration, acculturation, and management education.
