Dan Prain is the Business Development Manager for Executive Programmes within the Otago Business School at the University of Otago. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Master of Enterprise (MEntr) from the University of Otago, along with a Graduate Certificate in New Zealand Immigration Advice (GCNZIA) from Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology. Prain serves as convenor for BUSC513, Marketing - Creating Value For Customers, a course in the Postgraduate Certificate in Executive Management (PGCertEM) and Postgraduate Diploma in Executive Management (PGDipEM) programmes. This paper, customized for corporate groups, addresses the role and function of marketing in firms, stakeholder relations, and marketing plan development and implementation. He has played a significant role in the Otago MBA programme, ranked 10th globally in 2020, where he handles student selection and has implemented processes to increase the rejection rate for higher standards. In July 2020, Prain contributed to launching the University of Otago's online MBA in Chinese, the first such programme by a non-Chinese university in China, aimed at expanding enrolments. Previously noted as Regional Marketing Manager for China, he facilitated international engagements, including hosting a delegation from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2017.
