Dr. Dana L. Ott is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management at the Otago Business School, University of Otago, having joined as a Lecturer in International Management in 2019. She earned her PhD in International Business from The University of Auckland Business School, an MS in Management with a specialization in Human Resource Management, and a BA in Psychology. Before her appointment at Otago, Ott amassed over ten years of professional experience as an academic advisor and coordinator of exchange programmes at universities in Germany and the United States. Her academic career is complemented by active involvement in teaching courses such as BSNS 412 Research Skills and Methods I, MANT 332 International Management, and MANT 472 Managing International Organisations.
Ott's research specializations encompass expatriate management, macro talent management, neurodiversity in organisations, and literature review methodology, with broader interests in enhancing global mobility experiences for international careers, supporting neurodivergent employees and leaders, and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives focused on gender equity, cultural intelligence, and neuroinclusion. She has published extensively in prestigious journals, including Critical Perspectives on International Business, International Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, and Human Resource Development Review. Key publications include 'Incorporating neurodiversity into international business research' (2024, Critical Perspectives on International Business), 'A multi-level systematic literature review of contextual influences on international career behaviors and directions for future research' (2025, International Business Review), 'Helping neurodivergent employees succeed' (2023, MIT Sloan Management Review), 'International business research on “emerging economies”: A critical review and recommendations' (2023), and contributions to the book Talent Management in Small Advanced Economies.
