Daniel Anguiano serves as Associate Professor of Graphic Design in the School of Art within the Micky Elliot College of Fine Arts at Stephen F. Austin State University, a position he has held since August 2014. He earned a Master of Arts in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication from the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to his tenure-track role at SFA, Anguiano amassed extensive professional experience in the design industry starting in the mid-1980s. He worked as a Graphics Specialist at Lockheed Martin (formerly General Dynamics) from 1988 to 1995, supporting projects including magazines, posters, manuals, displays, and signage. From 1995 to 2000, he served as Art Director for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Cable Connection Magazine, managing editorial design, art coordination, and production. He then held positions as Art Director and Creative Director at Dodd Creative Group from 2007 to 2014, handling brand identities, print collateral, websites, and project management for various clients in hospitality, retail, and real estate. Additionally, he began adjunct teaching in 1999 at institutions such as Tarrant County College, Westwood College, and numerous online universities including Bellevue University, Grand Canyon University, and the Art Institute Online, developing curricula and teaching visual communications, art history, and graphic design courses.
At SFA, Anguiano teaches a wide array of courses, including Graphic Design Communication I and II, History of Design, Typography, Professional Practices, Web Design, and Design Internship, often in online formats using platforms like D2L, Brightspace, Blackboard, and Canvas. He advises graphic design students, recruits from regional high schools, facilitates internships and career placements, and has increased program enrollment, student retention, and participation in organizations like AIGA and AAF. Under his mentorship, SFA students have earned top honors, awards, and scholarships in competitions such as the American Advertising Federation National Student Advertising Competition and AAF-Houston events in 2018, 2024, and 2025. His recent works were featured in the SFA School of Art faculty exhibition at the Cole Art Center in 2018. Anguiano continues adjunct teaching at institutions like Rhode Island School of Design and Kentucky Wesleyan University, and served as Content SME for Sophie Learning in 2024. He has been recognized for 10 years of service at SFA.
