Rate My Professor Daniel Castro

Daniel Castro-Lacouture serves as Dean of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute at Purdue University, a position he has held since June 1, 2022. He previously held the role of professor of building construction and executive director of the professional master’s program in occupational safety and health in the College of Design at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to that, he was assistant professor of civil engineering at Ohio University and joined the Georgia Tech faculty in 2006, where he was promoted to full professor in 2015 and served as chair of the School of Building Construction for more than 11 years. Castro-Lacouture earned a doctorate in civil engineering from Purdue University in 2003, during which time he also served as a teaching assistant in the School of Civil Engineering and as a staff resident at Hillenbrand Hall. He holds a courtesy appointment in Purdue’s Lyles School of Civil Engineering. Before his studies at Purdue, he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia and a master’s degree in construction management from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. Earlier in his career, he spent four years in industry as a project engineer.
