Daniel Harris is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Genetics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. His research interests include studying genetic variation to model African demographic history, which encompasses archaic introgression and population divergences, as well as the African genetic architecture of cardiometabolic diseases such as diabetes. He earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine with a focus in Genome Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2019, with a dissertation on characterizing genetic drift and migration between populations. He also holds a B.A. in Biology from St. Mary's College of Maryland, awarded in 2014. Prior to his current role, which began in August 2019, he served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and as a graduate research assistant there from 2014 to 2019.
