Rate My Professor Daniel Loy

Daniel Loy is a Senior Lecturer (Practice) in the School of Business at Monash University Malaysia, where he also directs the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Hub. His academic background includes a PhD in Science Education from Universiti Sains Malaysia awarded in 2015, a Master of Online Education from the University of Southern Queensland in 2006, and a Bachelor of Multimedia in Media Innovation from Multimedia University in 2002. Loy's career spans leadership in corporate and social innovation, STEM education, and strategic planning. He joined Monash University Malaysia in February 2021, following roles such as Associate Director of Innovation and Capability Development at PurpoSE Malaysia from June 2019 to December 2023, Director of the Centre of Learning & Innovation at Petrosains Sdn Bhd from 2016 to 2019, Vice President of Social Innovation at Agensi Inovasi Malaysia from 2014 to 2015, Director of Strategic Planning at Petrosains from 2010 to 2014, and Head of Learning Research at Petrosains from 2006 to 2010. Earlier positions include Academic Head of the Faculty of Creative Arts & Design at SEGi College Subang Jaya from 2004 to 2006 and Project Manager at Rezzen (M) Sdn Bhd from 2002 to 2004.

Loy's research specializations include entrepreneurship, social innovation, social entrepreneurship, maker education, and makerspaces. He serves as Chief Investigator on the Redesign At iHome (RAI) Project, a collaborative initiative from March 2022 to March 2026 aimed at enabling Malaysians to age in place. As an educator, he is Chief Examiner for key units such as MON3750 Monash Innovation Guarantee (Malaysia), MGW3234 Social Entrepreneurship, MGM5251 Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and MGX5890 International Study Program in International Business. Loy actively advocates for social equity, educational reform, and social enterprises, with contributions aligned to UN Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Additionally, he is the Founder and Principal of Danjumbuck Designs, a learning and design consultancy established in September 2019.
