About Daniel

Daniel Schepis is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Innovation at The University of Western Australia Business School. He completed his PhD at the University of Western Australia, receiving the inaugural BHP Billiton PhD Scholarship in 2009. Schepis has served as a Visiting Scholar in the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany. His research focuses on business-to-business marketing, innovation networks, shaping future markets, and corporate social responsibility. Key areas include innovation network strategy, startup-corporate engagement, network orchestration, Indigenous business development, CSR and ESG communication, and social network analysis. These interests align with UN Sustainable Development Goals such as quality education, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, and industry, innovation, and infrastructure. Schepis has published in top-tier journals including Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Behaviour, and Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing. Selected publications are "Framing mechanisms and the emergence of dynamic coherence in orchestrated networks" (2026, with Al Adem and Purchase), "The role of work design in entrepreneurship: A review and meta-framework" (2025, with Hay et al.), "Blurred vision: understanding barriers to initiating collaborative market driving" (2025, with Feddema et al.), "Country-of-origin, region-of-origin or terroir branding to entice premium price?" (2024, with Tarabashkina and Purchase), and highly cited works such as "Facilitating open innovation processes through network orchestration mechanisms" (2021, 122 citations) and "A framework for understanding strategic network performance: Exploring efficiency and effectiveness at the network level" (2017, 67 citations).

At UWA, Schepis holds positions including Deputy Head of Department and coordinates units such as Startup Commercialisation and Scaling and Qualitative Business Research Methods. He serves as Marketing Industry Advisory Board Representative, Scholarships Committee member, and Enactus Faculty Advisor, and has taught Global Marketing Strategy, International Marketing, and Services Marketing.
