Danilo Ferreira de Souza is an Assistant Professor of Energy Systems in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (UFMT). He earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from UFMT in 2011 and is a specialist in Safety Engineering. In 2024, he completed a Ph.D. with Summa Cum Laude distinction in Energy Systems at the Institute of Energy and Environment (IEE) of the University of São Paulo (USP).
His research and professional interests center on electrical installations, lightning protection, electrical safety, energy planning, and energy efficiency. He serves as a member of the Brazilian Committee on Electricity (ABNT/CB-003) and coordinates the Núcleo Interdisciplinar de Estudos em Planejamento Energético (NIEPE/UFMT). He is also president of ABRACOPEL and technical coordinator of the National Circuit of the Electrical Sector (CINASE). De Souza authors a monthly column in the magazine O Setor Elétrico and received the Best Paper award at the IEEE Electrical Safety Workshop in 2023. He was nominated for the national “100 mais influentes da energia” prize in 2025.
