Darya Dolenko, PhD, serves as the Manager of the Physics Instructional Resource Team (PIRT) and Instructional Professional in the Department of Physics at Arizona State University, Tempe campus. Her office is located in PSH 359B, with contact details including phone 480-727-8398. As head of PIRT, she oversees the creation of all demonstrations and experiments utilized in undergraduate physics laboratory courses, lectures, and outreach projects. PIRT maintains a comprehensive physics demonstration catalog, searchable by keywords or PIRA numbers, covering categories such as mechanics, motion in one and two dimensions, Newton's laws, energy, momentum, rotation, oscillations, waves, fluids, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics, modern physics, astronomy, chaos, and nuclear physics. The team provides instructional resources, pedagogy information, lab safety guidelines, and general support for physics labs, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM in the Bateman Physical Sciences Center H Wing, Room 351. PIRT's mission is to empower students with positive experiences in verifying scientific ideas through experimentation, ensuring high-quality guidance through physics topics.
Darya Dolenko's expertise area is Physics and Society. She serves as Instructor of Record for introductory laboratory courses, including PHY 113 (General Physics Laboratory I - Mechanics) and PHY 122 (University Physics Laboratory I), where she manages teaching assistants, conducts office hours posted on Canvas, and supports both in-person and online sections. Dolenko is affiliated with the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) as a member from 2014 to 2015 and held the position of Vice President for the AAPT Arizona Section in 2013 and 2016. Her leadership in PIRT and instructional roles contribute directly to the Department of Physics' efforts in delivering effective undergraduate physics education at Arizona State University.
