Rate My Professor David Goldberg

David Goldberg is a full professor (tenured) of Management Information Systems in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University. He serves as an AI Fellow for the university, contributing to university-wide initiatives that support AI literacy, assess AI adoption and perceptions, and inform institutional decision making. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and text mining, with an emphasis on developing computational methods and decision support systems that extract actionable information from unstructured text data. A central application of this research is risk analysis and product safety. He teaches courses in Python programming and database systems, with an emphasis on hands-on, real-world applications. Goldberg is the principal investigator on a project focused on understanding the adoption, challenges, and opportunities of integrating AI in higher education. He previously led a federally funded project applying AI and text mining to identify equipment failure risks. He earned his bachelor's and doctoral degrees from Virginia Tech, where he was supported by the Richard E. and Carol A. Sorensen Fellowship. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a technical contractor developing 3D building datasets.
