Miguel Ángel De Feo serves as Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of English and Foreign Languages at Grambling State University. He earned his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Central Florida, graduating summa cum laude and receiving the Medal of Honor for achieving the highest GPA in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Florida. Dr. De Feo teaches introductory and upper-level Spanish courses at Grambling State University. He coordinates study abroad programs, including opportunities in Costa Rica, and can be contacted at (318) 274-6419.
Dr. De Feo specializes in Caribbean and South American literature, particularly the essay genre in twentieth-century Argentinian culture. He has published an assortment of articles, essays, and reviews on Hispanic literature in books, journals, literary magazines, and anthologies published in Puerto Rico, Panama, Argentina, Spain, and the United States. Key publications include "La utopia desarmada: un itinerario sobre la decadencia argentina en El atroz encanto de ser argentinos, de Marco Denevi," originally published in Revista Literaria Baquiana and selected for inclusion in Anuario-IX (2007-2008) by Ediciones Baquiana, which examines the Argentine crisis of 2001 as a consequence of prolonged national decadence due to military interventionism and democratic weakness; and "Las (per) versiones del 'Yo' y del 'Otro' en Mea Cuba de Guillermo Cabrera Infante," included in the book Guillermo Cabrera Infante: el subterfugio de la palabra published by Editorial Hispano Cubana, analyzing the author's conflicting nostalgic memories of his homeland and life in exile. Dr. De Feo was appointed to the editorial board of the Spanish literary journal Baquiana, published by Ediciones Baquiana in Miami, Florida, in recognition of his professional contributions. Prior to his appointment at Grambling State University, he founded, organized, and chaired the Hispanic Film Society at Louisiana Tech University.
