Dr. Dhru Ramson serves as an Adjunct Research Fellow in the Surgery Monash Health department at Monash University’s School of Clinical Sciences. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours from Monash University. Currently, he is an accredited General Surgery Registrar at Middlemore Hospital and a Medical Officer (Captain) in the New Zealand Army. Additionally, Ramson is the Co-Founder of the Trident Research Cooperative and holds the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland. His adjunct role at Monash, which began as a Research Associate in the Department of Surgery in January 2020, underscores his commitment to advancing surgical research and education.
Ramson’s research interests center on combat casualty care resuscitation and robotic surgery. He has authored or co-authored 24 research outputs, including 12 articles and 8 review articles. Notable publications include “Weekend effect in emergency laparotomy: a propensity score-matched analysis” published in 2023, “Duration of post-operative antibiotic treatment in acute complicated appendicitis: systematic review and meta-analysis” in 2021, “Association of perioperative transfusion of fresh frozen plasma and outcomes after cardiac surgery” in 2024, “Platelet Transfusion in Cardiac Surgery: An Entropy-Balanced, Weighted, Multicenter Analysis” in 2024, “Association of Perioperative Cryoprecipitate Transfusion and Mortality After Cardiac Surgery” in 2023, and “MACHINE LEARNING OUTPERFORMS EXISTING CLINICAL SCORING TOOLS IN THE PREDICTION OF POSTOPERATIVE ATRIAL FIBRILLATION DURING ICU ADMISSION AFTER CARDIAC SURGERY” in 2022. His work explores perioperative outcomes, transfusion practices, machine learning applications in predicting postoperative complications, and emergency surgical procedures. These contributions have accumulated 316 citations on ResearchGate, reflecting his growing influence in the field of surgery.
