Dr. Diana Bozhilova is Associate Professor of Politics and International Relations at Northeastern University London, where she currently serves as Associate Dean of Global Impact and Sustainability and Director of the Doctoral School. She previously held the position of Head of Faculty of Politics and International Relations, Sociology and Anthropology from 2013 to 2023. Bozhilova completed her doctoral degree at King's College London, followed by postdoctoral appointments at the London School of Economics and Political Science, including the AC Laskaridis Post-doctoral Research Fellow role from 2008 to 2009. She is also affiliated with the Brudnick Center on Violence and Conflict and the Plastics Center at Northeastern University.
Her academic interests include democratization, Europeanization, development, energy security, geopolitics, regional integration, EU-Russia energy negotiations, and fossil fuel companies' climate communication strategies. Key publications encompass 'Renewable energy discourses of fossil fuel companies: obstruction and delay of climate action' (2026, with Dipa Desai, Yutong Si, Sheila Puffer, and Jennie C. Stephens); 'Fossil fuel companies' climate communication strategies: Industry messaging on renewables and natural gas' (2023, with Yutong Si, Dipa Desai, Sheila Puffer, and Jennie C. Stephens); 'Advancing social value analysis: challenges and opportunities to understanding social outcomes in the United States and in the United Kingdom' (2024); 'EU–Russia energy negotiations: a choice between rational self-interest and collective action' (2010); 'When Foreign Direct Investment is Good for Development: Bulgaria’s accession, industrial restructuring and regional FDI' (2010); and 'Energy security and regional cooperation in South-East Europe' (2009). Bozhilova has contributed to sustainability initiatives by hosting the Careers in Sustainability event in 2024 and a fireside chat on COP28 in 2023.
