Professor Dimitria Groutsis is Professor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the University of Sydney Business School, within the Discipline of Work and Organisational Studies. She holds the position of Academic Director of the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) Program in the Office of the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and serves as Program Director of the Dalyell Scholars Program in the School of Business since October 2017. Groutsis is recognized as a leading scholar in diversity management, migration, labour mobility, and cultural diversity in the business context. Her research examines issues such as ethno-racial representation on corporate boards, cultural diversity in media, temporary migrant experiences during COVID-19, and the role of migration intermediaries. She has partnered with the Diversity Council Australia and contributed to studies on migrant settlement experiences, strategies, and outcomes.
Groutsis has co-authored and edited significant works, including the book International Human Resource Management (2014, edited with Mustafa F. Özbilgin and William S. Harvey), the report Beyond the Pale: Cultural Diversity on ASX100 Boards (2018, with Rae Cooper), and chapters such as Guest worker schemes yesterday and today in the Routledge Handbook of Immigration and Refugee Studies. Recent publications include Temporary Migrants as Dehumanised 'Other' in the Time of COVID-19 (2023), I'm Not a Refugee Girl, Call Me Bella: Professional Refugee Women, Agency, Recognition and Emancipation (2023), and The state of play of ethno-racial representation on boards: A comparative analysis (2024). She received the Outstanding Leader award at the 2025 SAGE Awards for her intersectional leadership in equity, diversity, and inclusion, the 2023 ABDC Network Award for Established, Applied Research, and contributed to the University of Sydney earning all five SAGE Cygnet Awards in 2025. Groutsis is co-chair of the APRU Asia-Pacific Women in Leadership program, serves on governance and advisory panels for Diversity Council Australia, delivers public lectures like Minority report at Raising the Bar, and is a frequent media contributor advocating for diverse workforces.
