Dimy Doresca serves as Clinical Associate Professor in International Business and Entrepreneurship and Executive Director of the Institute for International Business within the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. He earned an MS in International Affairs from Georgetown University and a BA in Business Administration from Augustana College. Previously, he was Associate Professor of Practice in Management and Entrepreneurship from 2021 to 2024. Doresca also holds the position of Justice International Business Fellow and directs the Mandela Washington Fellowship Program at the University of Iowa. A native of Haiti with over 25 years of professional experience, his career includes international education through training and program development, leading global learning tours to Africa and the Middle East, international entrepreneurship and business consulting, managing international operations for a US-based company across multiple countries, international strategic planning, business development and market research, contracts administration and negotiations, and international business diplomacy in regions spanning the Middle East, Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. He is a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) since 2013, a CGBP Trainer since 2014, a certified I-Corps Instructor via the Great Lakes I-Corps Hub at the University of Michigan, and a member of the US State Department Speaker’s Bureau.
At the University of Iowa, Professor Doresca contributes to the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, employing the NSF I-Corps curriculum for more than eight years. In October 2022, he was appointed Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the African Leadership Centre, King’s College London. He has served on Iowa's District Export Council since 2016 and was honored with the Iowa MBA Instructor of the Year - Elective award in 2024. Among his academic contributions is participation in the publication: Brown, K. & Adebisi, S., "Applying Curricular and Co-Curricular Structures to Advance Student Learning Experience to engender Global North and South Future Economic Collaborations: From Iowa to Africa," in Proceedings of ARUA Biennial Conference 2023. Through the Institute for International Business, Doresca facilitates student consulting teams that assist small- to mid-size Iowa businesses in global market entry, conducting risk analyses and developing strategies, such as aiding an architectural signage company in penetrating Middle Eastern markets and supporting micro-entrepreneurs in Belize with marketing and revenue strategies. His work bridges academic learning with practical application, mentoring students and fostering international business impact.
