About Dipen

Dr. Dipen S. Shah serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Technology, Vasad, accumulating 25 years of professional experience. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from C. U. Shah University, Wadhwan, Gujarat in 2018; an M.E. in Mechanical Machine Design from Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar in 2002, securing First Class; and a B.E. in Production Engineering from Saurashtra University, Rajkot in 1998 with Distinction. He began his career as a Trainee Engineer at Elecon Engineering Company Pvt. Ltd. from May 1998 to May 1999, followed by joining SVIT Vasad as Assistant Professor in November 2000, advancing to Associate Professor in September 2021 and Head of Department in August 2023.

Dr. Shah's research specializations encompass Bearing Dynamics, Machine Design, Tribology, and Machine Dynamics. Notable publications include "A dynamic model for vibration studies of dry and lubricated deep groove ball bearings considering local defects on races" published in Measurement (2019); "Theoretical and experimental vibration studies of lubricated deep groove ball bearings having surface waviness on its races" in Measurement (2018); "Experimental Vibration Studies of Deep Groove Ball Bearings having Damaged Surfaces" in Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India) Series C (2018); and "A Review of Dynamic Modeling and Fault Identifications Methods for Rolling Element Bearing" in Procedia Technology (2014). He has contributed to several other international journals and conferences on vibration analysis, fault diagnosis in rolling bearings, excitation forces generated by defective races, and test rig development for shaft-rolling bearing systems. Dr. Shah successfully completed an AICTE/MHRD-funded MODROB project valued at Rs. 15 lakhs for developing the Dynamics of Machine laboratory and coordinated an AICTE VAANI-sponsored two-day workshop on "Advances in Manufacturing & Industry 4.0" in November 2025. A Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), he has served as a reviewer for international conferences such as ICRISET (2020).
