Dirk vom Lehn is Professor of Organisation and Practice in King's Business School at King’s College London. He is Programme Director of the BSc International Management and a member of the Public Services Management & Organisation (PSMO) group and the Work, Interaction and Technology research group. He also serves on the Collaborative Provisions Sub-Committee at King's College London. Vom Lehn obtained his PhD in Management from King’s College London in 2002, after conducting research at the University of Nottingham, and holds an MA (Diplom) in Sociology from the University of Bamberg in 1995, as well as a PGCAP from KCL in 2007. His career at King’s College London includes positions as Senior Lecturer in Marketing, Interaction & Technology since 2014, Lecturer from 2009 to 2014, Research Fellow from 2007 to 2009, and various research and teaching roles since 1998. He has also held an Assistant Professor position at the University of Luxembourg in 2007-2008.
His research focuses on ethnomethodological studies of interaction using video-based analysis, examining phenomena such as looking and seeing, the practice of walking together, the social organisation of talk and bodily action, technology-mediated interaction, and organisation studies from a social practice perspective. Specific contexts include museums, optometric consultations, street markets, and dance workshops. Gibson (Palgrave, 2017); and Harold Garfinkel: The Creation and Development of Ethnomethodology (Routledge, 2014), which received the American Library Association Choice Award for Outstanding Academic Title in 2014. Vom Lehn is Associate Editor of Symbolic Interaction and sits on the editorial boards of Arts and the Market, Cultural Sociology, and the Journal of Organizational Ethnography. He co-chaired the American Sociological Association's Section on Ethnomethodology and Conversation Analysis from 2012 to 2014.
