About Dylan

Dr Dylan Hicks is a Lecturer in Active Communities and Social Impact at Flinders University in the College of Human Sciences and Culture. He holds a PhD awarded in 2023 from Flinders University for his thesis titled Force-velocity profiling in jumping and sprinting actions: Exploring the utility to enhance performance in individual and team sport populations. He also earned a Master of Exercise Science / Strength & Conditioning from Edith Cowan University in 2010 and a Bachelor of Education (Physical Education) in 2003.

Dr Hicks is a movement scientist with expertise in sport biomechanics, strength and conditioning, coaching, and physical education. His research and professional interests focus on the quantitative analysis of human movement to enhance performance and inform individualized training interventions, including how skill acquisition, motor learning, and biomechanics shape coaching pedagogy and how individual movement signatures affect outcomes. He serves as Teaching Program Director for Active Communities & Social Impact and coordinates topics including Sport Coaching Science, Skill Acquisition & Biomechanics, Introduction to Coaching Pedagogy and Practices, Physical Education Curriculum Specialisation, and Exercise Prescription & Physiology. He maintains professional affiliations with the Australian Strength & Conditioning Association (Level 2), the National Strength & Conditioning Association (CSCS), Athletics Australia (Level 3 Sprints, Relays, Hurdles), and ACHPER.
