Dr. Ebad Bagherpour is a Lecturer in Mechanical Characterisation of Metallic Materials at the Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology (BCAST), Brunel University London. He oversees the thermomechanical activities at BCAST, including the Physical Thermomechanical Simulation Laboratory featuring a Gleeble 3800-GTC system and mechanical characterization laboratories. With over 15 years of combined academic and industrial experience, he earned his BSc, MSc, and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Shiraz University, the latter through a joint program with Semnan University and including research as a visiting PhD researcher at Doshisha University, Japan. His career history encompasses roles as R&D Manager at Shiraz Kahroba Industrial Co., Lecturer at Shiraz University, Postdoctoral Researcher at Doshisha University, Research Fellow at BCAST, and his current lecturing position.
Bagherpour's research specializations include deformation mechanisms, forming technologies, advanced thermomechanical processing techniques, mechanical material characterization, microstructure-property relationships, cyclic response of metals, and forming processes. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), with an H-index of 17 on Scopus and 19 on Google Scholar across 41 publications. Key publications feature "Tailoring microstructure and mechanical behavior of Mg-1Zn-0.2Ca alloy through Hot Extrusion with a Cosine-Profile Die" (Materials Today Communications, 2025), "Characterization and Modelling of the Deformation and Failure of Engineering Metallic Materials" (Crystals, 2025), "Phase-Field Simulation of the Creep Mechanism in the AZ31 Magnesium Alloy Under Discontinuous Dynamic Recrystallization Dominance" (Crystals, 2025), "Static Recrystallization Simulation of Interstitial Free‐Steel by Coupling Multi‐Phase‐Field and Crystal Plasticity Model Considering Dislocation Density Distribution" (Advanced Engineering Materials, 2025), and "New Insight Into Crack-Healing Mechanism via Electropulsing Treatment" (Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2023). He serves as Associate Editor for Discover Applied Science (Springer Nature), Editor for Modern Materials Science and Technology and Engineering and Solid Mechanics, Guest Editor for Crystals (MDPI), and reviews for journals including Acta Materialia. Bagherpour has delivered keynote speeches, such as "Advances in Understanding Strain Reversal Effects in Deformed Metals and Alloys" at the ANE Global Meeting and Expo (2024), and contributes to technical committees for international conferences.
