Dr. Edgardo Perez-Maldonado serves as the Assistant Chair and Associate Professor in Judson University's Department of Architecture and Interior Design. Hailing from Puerto Rico, he holds a Ph.D. in History from the Inter-American University Metropolitan Campus, with a concentration in urbanism, architecture, and culture, as well as a Master of Architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design. With more than 13 years of experience in the field of architecture and academia across the United States and internationally, Dr. Perez-Maldonado trained as a professional designer at architecture and urban design firms in San Juan, New York, and Savannah. He joined Judson University in July 2021 initially as Chair of the Architecture and Interior Design Department and continues to lead in his current role as Assistant Chair. Previously, he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in architecture and interior design at institutions including the International School of Design and Architecture at Universidad Ana G. Méndez, where he received the Outstanding Professor Award. His creative work has earned awards and honorable mentions in Puerto Rico, the United States, and Europe. Dr. Perez-Maldonado is a member of the Assoc. AIA.
Dr. Perez-Maldonado's academic interests encompass architecture history, theory, urbanism, digital design, and the cultural dimensions of urban environments. He has been a guest lecturer at renowned institutions such as the Glasgow School of Art, University of Alexandria in Egypt, Harvard Graduate School of Design, Savannah College of Art and Design, University of London, and University of Puerto Rico. Through his teaching, professional practice, and scholarly pursuits, he contributes significantly to the discourse on architecture and urbanism, fostering innovative approaches in design education at Judson University.
