He holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Mathematics from the University of Warwick, where he was previously based at the Zeeman Institute for Systems Biology and Infectious Disease Epidemiology Research. His work focuses on mathematical and computational modelling of infectious disease dynamics, with particular emphasis on behavioural aspects, social contagion, zoonotic transmission, One Health approaches, symptom propagation, and the use of models to inform health policy. Application areas include public, veterinary, and plant health, encompassing zoonoses and intervention evaluation through simulation and parameter inference.

At Liverpool, Dr Hill serves on the Internal Science Advisory Panel of The Pandemic Institute and is a member of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Gastrointestinal Infections, the JUNIPER partnership, and research groups in statistical modelling and mathematical biology.
