Efpraxia D. Zamani is Full Professor of Information Systems at Durham University Business School. She earned her PhD from Athens University of Economics and Business in 2014. Prior to her current position, she served as Senior Lecturer at the Information School, University of Sheffield. Her academic career is marked by a focus on the organisational and social dimensions of Information Systems, particularly the implications of emerging technologies for work practices, digital inequalities, and inclusion.
Zamani's research interests encompass digital poverty and digital inequalities, sensemaking of emerging technologies, and the role of Information Systems and technology in the workplace. Her scholarship has been published in prestigious outlets including the Information Systems Journal, Journal of Information Technology, Government Information Quarterly, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change. Notable recent publications include 'The new wave of 'hybrid' work: An opportunity to revise assumptions and build theory' (Information Systems Journal, 2025, co-authored with Watson-Manheim, Abbott, and Lin), 'Co-constructing cooperative value ecosystems: A critical realist perspective' (Information Systems Journal, 2025, co-authored with Zhang, Gerli, and Mora), 'Gender differences in remote work: a study on the boundary management tactics of women and men' (Information Technology & People, 2025), and 'Embedding equality, diversity and inclusion in usability testing: recommendations and a research agenda' (International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, 2024). Her work has accumulated over 3,800 citations with an h-index of 28 according to Google Scholar. Zamani has received significant recognition, including the AIS Sandra Slaughter Service Award in 2024 for leadership within the Association for Information Systems. She currently serves as Vice President of the UK Academy for Information Systems, Co-Chair of the AIS Women's Network College, and Senior Editor for the European Journal of Information Systems and Information Systems Journal. Additional honors include Best Paper Awards at ICIS 2013 and ECIS 2021, and membership in the British Academy of Management Peer Review College (2022-2025).
