Eijiro Mizutani is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Journalism, Media & Communication Studies at Keio University, a position he has held since April 2025. He previously served as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Sociology, Department of Sociology, Mass Communication Major at Kansai University from 2019 to 2025, and held a position in the Faculty of Law at Teikyo University from 2016 to 2019. Mizutani earned a Bachelor of Law from Doshisha University in 2009, a Master of Laws from Keio University in 2011, and a Ph.D. in Law from Keio University in 2019.
His academic work centers on media law and information law, including constitutional governance in digital discussion spaces and the regulation of digital platforms. He teaches courses such as Media Law 2 and Information Law at Keio University. Mizutani has led research projects funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, including grants on constructing constitutional control theories for platforms as new governors and updating press law principles in the context of digital media revolutions. His contributions include publications and discussions on the role of local public entities in addressing illegal and harmful online content, as well as chapters on platform power and law.
