Elisandro Ricardo Drechsler-Santos is a professor in the Department of Botany at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from URI-FW (2002), a master's degree in Plant Biology from UFSC (2005), and a PhD in Fungal Biology from UFPE (2010). His research focuses on the diversity, systematics, phylogeny, taxonomy, ecology, and conservation of fungi, employing an integrative approach. He serves as coordinator of MIND.Funga and co-chair of the IUCN SSC Brazil Fungal Specialist Group. Drechsler-Santos has contributed to numerous scientific publications on fungal taxonomy and conservation, including work on new species and regional fungal diversity in Brazil.
He is affiliated with the Centro de Ciências Biológicas at UFSC and maintains an active role in advancing fungal research and conservation efforts in Brazil.
