Ellie Rowley is a part-time Communications Adviser in the Media Engagement Team at the University of Otago's Communications Office. She joined the University in 2017 with a strong foundation in print journalism. Previously, she served as a general reporter and advertising features writer at the Otago Daily Times, part of Allied Press, where she gained experience in news reporting, feature writing, and media sales.
Rowley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Film and Media from the University of Otago and a Diploma in Journalism (Print) from Aoraki Polytechnic. In her role, she supports the promotion of university research and activities through media channels, frequently listed as the contact for press releases on diverse topics including scientific studies on stress, ancient earthquakes, snacking behaviours, and more. She also contributes to academic community engagement by presenting seminars on media relations, such as to the Department of Microbiology and Immunology on working with the media.
