About Eleanor
Professor Eleanor Scott is Professor of Medicine (Diabetes and Maternal Health) at the School of Medicine, University of Leeds. She qualified in Medicine from Nottingham University in 1992, holding the degrees BM BS, BMedSci, MD, and FRCP. She was appointed Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Leeds in 2003 and promoted to Professor of Medicine (Diabetes and Maternal Health) in 2018. Professor Scott serves as Deputy Head of Clinical and Population Sciences. Her research focuses on innovative mechanisms controlling glucose across the 24-hour day, continuous glucose monitoring analysis to assess 24-hour glucose control, and the development of new therapeutic approaches to improve 24-hour glucose control and clinical outcomes. As a clinical diabetologist, she maintains a longstanding interest in pregnancy and maternal health, with expertise in diabetes in pregnancy, gestational diabetes, continuous glucose monitoring, circadian rhythms, sleep, molecular clock, and 24-hour glucose control.
Professor Scott is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and an associate member of the EASD Diabetes in Pregnancy Study Group. She holds memberships in Diabetes UK, the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists, the British Endocrine Society, the British Medical Association, and the Medical Protection Society. She is affiliated with the Leeds Institute of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine, Clinical and Population Science, and the Multidisciplinary Cardiovascular Research Centre. Professor Scott leads the Diabetes in Pregnancy service in Leeds and contributes to shaping services in diabetes and maternal health. Her work advances understanding of glucose regulation and supports improved outcomes for patients with diabetes during pregnancy.
