Emma Dewar holds the position of Divisional Senior Manager, Divisional Services and Administration within the Sciences Division at the University of Otago. She earned her Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from the University of Otago and has been a dedicated staff member since 1991, initially serving as Senior Manager in AskOtago under the Client Services section. Throughout her over three-decade tenure, Emma Dewar has honed expertise in university administration, focusing on operational support for academic divisions.
In her current role, Emma Dewar delivers high-level operational and strategic support to advance the Sciences Division’s teaching and research goals. She leads divisional planning, resource management, and process improvement efforts, ensuring the effective delivery of key initiatives. Emma works closely with other Divisional Senior Managers across the University of Otago to promote institution-wide coordination and alignment, playing a central role in connecting day-to-day operations with long-term priorities. Based in Dunedin at the 3rd Floor, Science Library, Science III Building, she supports the Pro-Vice-Chancellor’s Office in fostering research excellence, industry partnerships, innovation, and benefits for New Zealand communities and businesses. Her administrative leadership enables academic staff to concentrate on scholarly pursuits.
