About Emmanuel

Emmanuel Ho is a Professor and Associate Director of Graduate Studies & Research in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo. He holds an Hons.B.Sc. and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, and completed CIHR/MSFHR post-doctoral fellowship training at the British Columbia Cancer Research Center.

His research focuses on the development and characterization of innovative drug delivery strategies, including nanomedicines, medical devices, and biomaterials for applications in HIV/AIDS prevention, cancer treatment, and chronic wound healing. The Ho Research Group employs an interdisciplinary approach involving pharmaceutical sciences, bioengineering, immunology, and chemistry. Ho has received numerous awards, including the 2025 Excellence in Science Research Award from the University of Waterloo, the 2016-2021 Leslie F. Buggey Professorship, the 2015 AFPC New Investigator Research Award, the 2015 Gattefosse Canada/CSPS Award in Lipid-Based Drug Delivery, the 2014 GSK/CSPS Early Career Award, and the 2013 Rh Award for Excellence in Research. He has served as President of the Canadian Chapter of the Controlled Release Society (2015-2017), Associate Editor of the Journal of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (2016-present), and in various leadership roles with the Canadian Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences. Ho is affiliated with the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology and has contributed to editorial roles and conference organization in his field.
