Eric Kisling is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Management Information Systems in the College of Business at East Carolina University. He joined the university in 2007 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Business and Information Technologies Education, serving in that role until December 2016 before transitioning to the Department of Management Information Systems in January 2017. Kisling serves as the program coordinator for the Management Information Systems BSBA degree. He holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, awarded in 2006, and earlier graduate degrees from the same institution in Instructional Systems Technology.
Kisling's research focuses on systems analysis and design, information systems integration, data analytics, agile methodologies, human performance technology, organizational problem solving, management information systems, artificial intelligence, information assurance, scrum, technology integration, and information technologies. His publications, with over 379 citations on Google Scholar, explore themes including trust dynamics in social media and virtual teams, decision-making challenges, online review influences on consumer behavior in sharing economies, virtual team leadership, pedagogical shifts from pedagogy to andragogy in information technology classrooms, virtual learning spaces, e-waste education, and knowledge management in human performance technology. Key works include "Can Social Media Make Us More Trusting?" (2022), "DIGITAL SOLUTIONS TO DECISION MAKING LIMITATIONS: FOR BETTER OR WORSE?" In 2018, he was inducted into the East Carolina University College of Education Educators Hall of Fame. In October 2025, he was appointed Chair of the Department of Management Information Systems.
