About Euripedes

Euripedes Constantino Miguel is Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP). He holds the position of Professor & Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry within the same department. Miguel earned his MD from the University of São Paulo Medical School in 1982 and his PhD from the University of São Paulo Psychiatry Department in 1992. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Miguel founded and coordinated the Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorders Program (PROTOC) at the Institute of Psychiatry, USP, from 1994 to 2009. He coordinates the National Institute of Developmental Psychiatry (INPD) and the National Center for Research and Innovation in Mental Health. He serves as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yale Child Study Center and Duke University Medical Center, and as a research consultant at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on obsessive-compulsive disorder, including comorbidities, biological markers, neural circuits, and developmental psychiatry. Miguel has published over 500 articles with more than 24,000 citations and an h-index of 84, and he has edited 24 books. He received the 54th Jabuti Prize in 2012 for the book Clínica Psiquiátrica. He is a researcher at the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and a level 1A productivity fellow at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). Miguel has coordinated multicenter studies on OCD and leads initiatives in preventive mental health for children and adolescents.
