About Fabrice

Fabrice Parmentier is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychological Science at the University of Western Australia, within the Faculty of Science. He graduated in Psychology from the University of Liège, Belgium, in 1996, and obtained his PhD in Psychology from Cardiff University in 2000. After completing his doctorate, he joined the University of Plymouth in the UK as a Lecturer, progressing to Senior Lecturer and then Reader by 2008. In 2008, he relocated to the University of the Balearic Islands in Spain as a Ramon y Cajal Fellow, subsequently appointed Lecturer in 2013 and Professor in 2016. Concurrently, he held the position of External Research Associate at the University of Western Australia from 2005 to 2012, and has served as Adjunct Senior Lecturer there since 2012.

Parmentier's research focuses on cognitive psychology, particularly the mechanisms underlying attention and distraction, with emphasis on auditory deviance distraction, serial memory, working memory, and cognitive changes associated with aging. He has produced over 68 peer-reviewed articles, significantly impacting the field of experimental psychology.
