Dr. Fadi Aloul is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) College of Engineering. He holds a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor (2003), an MS in Computer Science and Engineering from the same institution (1999), and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University (1997). His professional experience at AUS includes serving as Dean of Engineering since 2022, Professor since 2014, Department Head of Computer Science and Engineering from 2016 to 2021, Director of the HP Institute from 2014 to 2021, and Interim Director of the High Performance Computing Center from 2018 to 2019. He previously held positions as Associate Professor (2009-2014) and Assistant Professor (2003-2009) in the same department, as well as a Post Doc at the University of Michigan in 2003.
Dr. Aloul's research areas include cyber security, mobile applications, innovative education, smart cities, and design optimization. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He has received several awards, including the Global Engineering Deans Council Airbus Engineering Diversity Award, the Khalifa Award for Higher Education, the Sheikh Rashid Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers, and the AUS Excellence in Teaching Award. He has been consistently named among the top 2% of global scientists by Stanford University/Elsevier. Dr. Aloul has authored over 160 publications and holds one US patent. He is a frequent invited speaker at international conferences on topics related to cyber security, technology, innovation, and education.
