About Federica

Federica Du Pasquier serves as Lecturer on Law and Global Affairs at Yale University and Visiting Faculty Fellow at the Center for Global Legal Challenges at Yale Law School. In her role within the Law faculty, she focuses on critical issues at the intersection of international law, humanitarian action, and global affairs. Currently, as Senior Advisor at Lex International, she leads a project aimed at revitalizing international law. Additionally, she spearheads an initiative at the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA) exploring the implications of science and technology on the future of peace and war. Du Pasquier brings extensive experience from nearly a decade at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). There, she coordinated the organization's humanitarian diplomacy globally concerning the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine. She advised the ICRC President on digitalization, institutional strategy, and key diplomatic initiatives to enhance the ICRC's role as a neutral intermediary. She also spearheaded a partnership with Swiss Polytechnic Schools for innovative humanitarian solutions and contributed to protection activities and dialogues with authorities in Ethiopia, Syria, and the Occupied Palestinian Territory, as well as legal and diplomatic outreach at the United Nations in New York.

Prior to these roles, Du Pasquier was a fellow of the Harvard Program on Negotiation and an affiliate at Harvard Law School, where she researched humanitarian frontline negotiations, regulation of autonomous weapons, and counterterrorism. She holds degrees in Law and International Relations from Harvard University and the University of St. Gallen. Fluent in six languages—English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, and Arabic—Du Pasquier is recognized for her contributions to protecting civilians in armed conflicts. As a 2023 Yale World Fellow in the Maurice R. Greenberg World Fellows Program, she led the report “Not Dead Yet – International Law in an Age of Uncertainty” (2025), underscoring her influence in advancing international humanitarian law and innovative conflict resolution strategies.
