Dr. Fethma Binti M. Nor is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at Curtin University Sarawak Malaysia. She holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Production Process Design) from Dongguk University, South Korea (2012), a Master of Engineering (Mechanical) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (2009), and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (2004). Dr. Nor is a Professional Technologist (P.Tech, MBOT No. PT25080199, 2025), Graduate Member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (GE154509A, 2018), Professional Member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (No. 673898, 2021), Member of the Malaysia Design Council (No. 1-A-000598, 2022), and Professional Member of the Institute of Materials Malaysia (No. M-2024-0338, 2023).
Dr. Nor's academic interests and research specializations include Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Solid Mechanics, Material Science focusing on Natural Fiber Composites and Biomaterials, Human-Centered Biomechanics such as bone tissue engineering, dental implants, and skin biomechanics, and Product Design & Development in areas including biomechanical devices, military safety equipment, agriculture, kids development toys, and partition building. In her career, she has held positions as project leader and member in various research grants at Curtin University Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. She has produced 53 selected publications in journals and conference proceedings, including "Effects of Starter Defect on Energy Release Rate of Three-Dimensional Orthotropic Composite Laminates" (Polymers, 2020), "Finite element analysis of multidirectional forging dies for severe plastic deformation processing" (AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020), contributions to Materials Today: Proceedings (2023), and articles in Semarak International Journal of Creative Art and Design (2024). Her work has impacted fields like composite materials analysis and biomechanics. Dr. Nor has received major awards such as the Gold Medal from the International Innovation Association for Researcher of Skills and Vocational Training Malaysia (IAM2024), Editor’s Choice for her article (Vol. 1, No. 1, Semarak International Journal, 2024), Best Animation Video and Best Novelty Design at the Mechanical Capstone Design Project Competition (2024), and Favourite Design by Visitors’ Vote (2025).
