Fran Barrett serves as the Operations Lead with the Divisional Services and Administration team at the University of Otago, Christchurch campus. In this role, she coordinates the day-to-day administrative and support services for key departments and centres, including the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine (Christchurch), the Centre for Postgraduate Nursing Studies, Māori Indigenous Health Innovation (MIHI), and the UOC Simulation Centre. Her responsibilities ensure efficient operational support for academic, research, and educational activities within the Division of Health Sciences.
Fran Barrett has been recognized for her contributions to the university community. In June 2025, she was part of the team honored at the University of Otago, Christchurch Matariki Staff Value Awards in the DSA Portfolio 2 category, alongside colleagues Katrina Notton, Marie Watson, Brenda Rogers, Isabel Lyckholm, Sandra Scannell, Clara-Ann Paul, and Cameron Montague Ebbs. She has also been involved in organizing significant events, serving as co-chair of the events committee for the Heart Foundation fundraising breakfast hosted by UOC in March 2025. Previous roles include Client Services Administrator in the Medical Education Unit and administrative support in clinical skills and medical education programs.
