Dr. G. R. Kanagachidambaresan is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, where he also serves as Head of the Centre for IoT and Expert Systems at Vel Tech Research Park. He holds a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University in 2010, an M.E. in Pervasive Computing, and a Ph.D. from Anna University, Chennai, in 2017. His academic and research expertise centers on Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, device design, wireless networks, pervasive computing and health care, embedded systems, machine learning, deep learning, and large language models. He has led funded research projects including "Energy efficient optimal path planning strategies for SWARM of UAVs in real time localization using deep learning based stereo vision system" sponsored by ISRO-RESPOND (Rs. 18.3 lakhs, 2019-2022), "Drone Assisted Mapping of Seaweeds of Odisha coast" by DBT (Rs. 79.63 lakhs, 2021-2024), "Precision Brackish water Aquaculture Technology using Machine Intelligence" by DBT (Rs. 1.53 crores, 2021-2024), and "Evaluation of the Hydrodynamic Performance" by DRDO-NSTL (Rs. 10 lakhs, 2019). He has filed several patents, such as "AN AI BASED FRUIT RIPENING SYSTEM" (201941050307, 2019), "PLC integrable IoT device for automated testing device" (201941006567, 2019), and "A Machine and method for prepackaging Inspection" (201941050046, 2019).
Dr. Kanagachidambaresan has authored and edited numerous publications, including books like "Internet of Things for Industry 4.0" (Springer, 2020), "Role of Single Board Computers in rapid IoT Prototyping" (Springer, 2021), "Internet of Things using Single Board Computer" (Apress, 2022), "Body Area Network Challenges and Solutions" (Springer, 2019), and "Integration of WSN and IoT for Smart Cities" (EAI, 2020). His highly cited works include "PyTorch" (2021, 745 citations), "IoT-based smart healthcare video surveillance system using edge computing" (2022, 202 citations), "Energy efficient clustering scheme (EECS) for wireless sensor network with mobile sink" (2018, 104 citations), and "Fail safe fault tolerant mechanism for wireless body sensor network (WBSN)" (2015). With 28 SCI publications, 71 Scopus-indexed papers, 12 books, and 30 book chapters, he has garnered 565 Google Scholar citations, an h-index of 13, and i10-index of 19. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Next Generation Computing and Communication Engineering Series (Wiley), Associate Editor for Wireless Networks (Springer) and Electronics (Bosnia), and Technical Expert Committee Member for the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. An ASEM DUO Fellow, he has been a Visiting Professor at UC Louvain, Belgium, and the University of Johannesburg, and supervises multiple Ph.D. students in IoT and related fields.
