Great Professor!
Gamze Koseoglu is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management and Marketing within the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne. She joined the institution in 2016 after completing her PhD in Organizational Behavior from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2015. Earlier, she obtained an MBA and an undergraduate degree in City and Regional Planning in Turkey. Her career trajectory reflects a commitment to both research and teaching in management. As an educator, she values authentic engagement with students, drawing from her experiences as a former shy PhD student to build genuine connections in the classroom. Koseoglu's role encompasses directing research inquiries into pressing organizational issues while delivering lectures that inspire student interaction.
Her research centers on organizational behavior, particularly employee creativity, team creativity, social networks, and leadership. Current projects examine the temporal dynamics of creative employees' social networks, the effects of leaders' perfectionism and anger expression on psychological safety and creativity, and strategies to support neurodiverse employees, including those with ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. Key publications include "A multimethod investigation of the interpersonal effects of leader perfectionism and anger expression on employee psychological safety and creativity" (2024), "When perceiving a coworker as creative affects social networks over time: A network theory of social capital perspective" (2023), "How Does Ethical Leadership Relate to Team Creativity? The Role of Collective Team Identification and Need for Cognitive Closure" (2022), "Every Sherlock needs a Dr. Watson: A theory of creativity catalysts in organizations" (2022), "Social Networks and Employee Creativity" (2021), "Gender similarity, coworker support, and job attitudes: An occupation’s creative requirement can make a difference" (2018), and "Working with creative leaders: Exploring the relationship between supervisors' and subordinates' creativity" (2017). Her scholarship has garnered over 375 citations according to Google Scholar. Koseoglu disseminates her findings through public articles on Pursuit by the University of Melbourne, such as "Can ethical leaders make teams more creative?" (2022), which explores how ethical leadership fosters team innovation via emotional confidence, and "Being creative can make you more popular at work," highlighting creativity's role in building workplace connections.
