Garth Doig is the Publications Manager at the Australian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG), a not-for-profit mining research centre based at The University of Western Australia. He joined the ACG in August 2012 as Publications Officer. Prior to this role, Doig worked as a desktop publisher in the oil and gas exploration field. His responsibilities at the ACG include the production of conference proceedings for ACG events such as Mine Closure, Paste, Caving, and Ground Support conferences, as well as coordinating the centre's websites, managing multi-media requirements, maintaining the ACG’s Online Repository of Conference Proceedings, and designing materials to support training and education events.
Doig has been a core member of the production team for multiple ACG publications. These include Mine Closure 2013, Mine Closure 2019, Paste 2018, Caving 2018, Mine Closure 2022 (Volumes 1 and 2), and the book Ground Support for Underground Mines published in 2020. He is credited in the 2019-2020 ACG Biennial Report for managing the centre's audiovisual requirements and contributing to high-quality proceedings production alongside Stefania Woodward. Additionally, Doig provided third-party editorial assistance for PhD theses deposited in the UWA Research Repository, including Michele Salvoni's 2017 thesis 'MMG Century Mine Case Study' and Teofilo Aquino Vieira da Costa's 2021 thesis on Brazilian banded iron formations. His work supports the ACG's mission in research, education, and technology transfer in geomechanics for open pit and underground mining, mine closure, and tailings management.
