Geoff Frost is an Associate Professor in the Discipline of Accounting, Governance and Regulation at the University of Sydney Business School. He holds a Bachelor of Financial Administration with Honours (BFinAdmin(Hons)) and a PhD from the University of New England. Frost joined the University of Sydney in July 2000 as Associate Professor of Accounting and has previously served as Associate Dean of Graduate Business in the Business School. With over 20 years of experience in accounting education, he has been actively involved in teaching accounting courses and contributing to learning and teaching initiatives at the university.
Frost's current research falls within the field of sustainability management and accounting, focusing on the role of accounting and accountants in sustainable development. He is recognized as an expert in sustainability accounting and reporting. His scholarly output has accumulated over 4,000 citations according to ResearchGate and Google Scholar metrics. Key publications include the co-authored book The Reality and the Rhetoric: Organisational Sustainability Reporting; "Considerations of sustainability in capital budgeting decision-making" (2021); "CSR disclosure and financial performance revisited: A cross-country analysis" (2018); "In Pursuit of a ‘Single Source of Truth’: from Threatened Legitimacy to Integrated Reporting" (2017); "Material legitimacy" (2015); "Assurance on Sustainability Reporting: State of Play and Future Directions" (2012); "A Survey of Sustainability Reporting Practices of Australian Reporting Entities" (2005, Australian Accounting Review); "The Investment Performance of Socially Responsible Investment Funds in Australia" (2007, Journal of Business Ethics); "Voluntary Carbon Reporting Prediction: A Machine Learning Approach" (2023); and "Sustainability reporting standards: Challenges for data sourcing and information assurance" (2026). Frost has also contributed to CPA Australia reports such as "Sustainability Reporting: Practices, performance and potential" and "The Collection, Integration and Reporting of Sustainability Information." His work has influenced discussions on corporate sustainability practices, ethical investments, and integrated reporting in Australia and internationally.
