Dr. Ghazala Khan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Marketing, School of Business, Monash University Malaysia. She has over 25 years of experience teaching marketing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her research focuses on consumer behavior in Islamic contexts, halal marketing, tourism, sustainability, and digital strategies. Specific interests include halal tourism and destinations, green practices in halal hotels, surrogate indicators for halalness in restaurants, consumer behavior during and post-COVID-19 in Indonesia and Malaysia, social media communication in emerging markets, Generation Z characteristics in Malaysia, fashion consciousness, packaging and labelling for halal products, and electronic word-of-mouth among Muslim tourists.
Dr. Khan has authored or co-authored 18 publications with over 220 citations. Key works include "Determining intention to visit halal destinations from the perspective of the push-pull-mooring framework" (2024), "Are Halal Hotels Green? An Exploratory Study from Malaysia" (2024), "Case 1: Resilience and Recovery in the Tourism Industry During COVID-19" (2024), "Perceptions of Halal: Students Reflections from a Field Trip to a Trade Show" (2023), "Stakeholder salience and environmental stewardship among hotels in Malaysia" (2022), "Consumer Behavior During and Post-COVID-19 in Indonesia and Malaysia" (2022), "Analyzing the Use of Social Media Communication Strategies in Indonesia and Malaysia: Insights and Implications" (2022), "Generation Z in Malaysia: The Four ‘E’ Generation" (2020), "‘Is this restaurant halal?’ Surrogate indicators and Muslim behaviour" (2019), and "The role of packaging and labelling in determining 'halalness': an exploratory study of Muslims in two countries" (2017). She supervises PhD theses, such as on mindfulness in green consumption behavior and factors influencing study abroad decisions among Muslim students. Dr. Khan teaches units including International Marketing (MKM5260) and Strategic Branding (MKW3000). She received the Best Paper Award at the 15th Global Marketing Conference.
