Dr Giresse Komba is a lecturer in Computer Systems Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology in the Faculty of ICT. He recently graduated with a Doctorate in Computer Systems Engineering from the same university. His doctoral research developed a real-time AI system for water leak detection and localisation in water distribution networks, achieving 96% accuracy. The thesis is titled “A Hybrid SVM-ANN-GT Algorithm for Real-Time Water Leak Detection and Localisation in Water Distribution Networks” and was supervised by Prof TE Mathonsi and Prof PA Owolawi. His research interests include water leakage detection, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cyber security and mesh networks. He also serves as a lecturer and supervisor of research at the institution.
