Dr. Graeme Whittaker is a General Practitioner at Student Health Services, University of Otago, in Dunedin. He joined the team in 2017 and provides primary healthcare services to students. Dr. Whittaker offers clinical consultations in Te Reo Māori, enhancing accessibility for Māori students and those preferring the language. As part of a multidisciplinary team that includes other general practitioners, medical officers, nurses, mental health specialists, and a dietitian, he contributes to comprehensive student wellbeing support, including general practice, vaccinations, sexual health, and minor procedures.
Prior to his appointment at the University of Otago, Dr. Whittaker practiced general medicine at Manly Medical Centre in Whangaparaoa. He has been active in professional development within New Zealand general practice, participating in and chairing sessions at General Practice Continuing Medical Education (GP CME) conferences, such as those in Rotorua (2018), Christchurch (2019 and 2020), and others. Student Health Services, located at the corner of Walsh and Albany Streets across from the Otago Museum, delivers safe and inclusive primary health care tailored to the needs of the university's student population.
