Grant Ritchie serves as a Wellbeing Counsellor within the Mental Health and Wellbeing team at the University of Otago Student Health Services. He is a Registered Mental Health Nurse born and bred in Dunedin, New Zealand, where he completed his education at Otago Polytechnic and the University of Otago. Ritchie brings 29 years of dedicated experience in the mental health field, all gained locally in Dunedin. He joined Student Health Services in 2018, marking a new chapter in his long career supporting mental health initiatives.
In partnership with the Mental Health Service team, Ritchie's primary responsibilities include delivering brief intervention counselling to address student mental health needs. He promotes mental health well-being across the University of Otago community through targeted efforts and initiatives. Additionally, he facilitates group work sessions and provides essential assistance to the Mental Health Service team as required. His extensive background and local roots enable him to effectively support the well-being of students in a familiar environment.
