Dr. Greg F. Naterer is a Professor in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering at the University of Prince Edward Island. He previously served as Vice-President, Academic and Research at UPEI and as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Dr. Naterer holds a BMath in Applied Mathematics, an MASc in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, all from the University of Waterloo.
He has made significant research contributions to energy systems, heat transfer, and thermodynamics, authoring three books, securing six patents, and publishing numerous refereed articles. As a former Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Advanced Energy Systems, he led an international research network focused on new hydrogen energy technologies. Dr. Naterer has received the Julian C. Smith Medal from the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Innovative Achievement Award from the Canadian Nuclear Society, and the Jules Stachiewicz Medal from the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Dr. Naterer has held national leadership roles including Chair of Engineering Deans Canada and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer.
