Dr. rer. nat. Gregor Peltri serves as Lehrkraft für besondere Aufgaben in Mathematics at the Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftliches Zentrum (MNZ) of the Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur Leipzig (HTWK Leipzig), where he teaches Mathematics I and II to first-year students, particularly those in engineering programs with heterogeneous prior knowledge. Born on February 19, 1969, in Leipzig, Peltri earned his Diplom in Mathematics and Dr. rer. nat. from the University of Leipzig. His doctoral dissertation, 'Beiträge und Beispiele zur Bures-Geometrie,' was submitted by Diplom-Mathematiker Gregor Peltri and accepted in early 2002 under the supervision of Peter M. Alberti at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. During his affiliation with the University of Leipzig's Naturwissenschaftlich-Theoretisches Zentrum around 2000, he contributed mathematical preprints on topics such as operator algebras and symmetric spaces.
Peltri's career encompasses applied mathematics and statistical analysis in industry and academia. He worked at pe Diagnostik GmbH's Department of Data and Process Analysis, co-authoring the 2003 paper 'Increased predictive value of parameters by fuzzy logic-based multiparameter analysis of tumor markers for small-cell lung cancer' in Cytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry. He provided statistical consulting through ACOMED and independently as Dr. rer. nat. Gregor Peltri, Statistische Dienstleistungen. At HTWK Leipzig, his expertise in mathematical modelling of data sets is reflected in collaborations yielding 'Statistical Interpretation of Semi-Continuous Anaerobic Digestion Data' (Chemical Engineering & Technology, 2016), 'A Predictive Tool for the Effect of an Arbitrary Spectral Irradiance' (Studies in Conservation, 2018), and 'Modeling of Light-Induced Changes in Reflectance Spectra' with Beate Villmann and Christian Weickhardt (2019). In teaching, he cultivates an error-friendly atmosphere, employs themed progressive tasks, bi-weekly assignments mirroring exam formats, student recordings in exams, and individualized support as a 'Lerncoach.' For these methods in Mathematics I and II, he earned second place in the 2024 HTWK Lehrpreis. Peltri also administers the MNZ PC-Pool and software responsibilities.
