He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. As an applied economist, his research centres on the economics of education with additional focus on health, crime, urban economics and public policy. Rossi has contributed to projects examining the effects of permanent school closures on pupils' outcomes and their links to crime, drawing on evidence from Scotland. His work further explores themes of inequality and social policy, including studies on football and crime as well as education, urban and labour market intersections. Through these investigations, Rossi advances empirical understanding of how educational policies and urban environments shape societal outcomes in areas such as pupil achievement, public safety and economic opportunity.
