About Hamdan

Hamdan Hamid Al-Ali is a Ph.D. candidate in Natural Language Processing at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with a specialization in Security and Forensics from 2019 and a master’s degree in Machine Learning for Visual Data Analytics from 2021. His research focuses on natural language processing, speech processing, games with a purpose, gamifying language disorder screening, vision-language models for Arabic dialects, and assessing stereotypes in large language models. He has co-authored publications including SHADES: Towards a multilingual assessment of stereotypes in large language models (2025) and JEEM: Vision-language understanding in four Arabic dialects (2025). Al-Ali also serves as First Lieutenant at Dubai Police and is co-founder of Potion AI, a startup developing AI-powered educational and therapeutic games. With over nine years of experience in game development, he creates video games centered on educational and cultural themes and has published titles on Steam and the App Store. His projects include Emirati Tales, Chatty Check, and Wordcaster.

Al-Ali is passionate about leveraging video games as platforms for education, healthcare, and cultural preservation. He contributes to research on Emirati Arabic representation in AI training data and participates in academic events such as the MBZUAI Research Showcase.
